Orange cake
Delicious cake with flavor of fresh oranges
What you need....
  • 6 ozs. butter or margarine
  • 6 ozs. caster sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 8 ozs. plain flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 orange
How to prepare...
  1. preheat the oven at 375°F / 190°C
  2. line the cake tin with grease proof paper
  3. cream the butter and sugar until light
  4. add the beaten eggs gradually, beating well between each addition
  5. sift flour, salt and baking powder
  6. add this mixture with the grated rind and juice of the orange to the creamed fat, mix very well
  7. place cake tin in the oven and bake for about 1 to 1 1/4 hours
  8. when cold, ice with orange frosting
