Slavic oven stew
Lamb and pork meat from the oven
What you need....
  • 10 medium onions, minced
  • 8 or 10 large tomatoes, sliced
  • 6 to 8 potatoes, pared and sliced
  • 5 lamb chops
  • 5 pork chops
  • 1 eggplant
  • 6 green peppers
  • 1 cup diced okra
  • 2 tsp. butter
  • 1/2 cup uncooked rice
  • salt and pepper (based on your taste)
How to prepare...
  1. preheat the over at 450°F / 230°C
  2. cover a bottom of roaster with onions, arrange half of tomatoes on the onions
  3. spread rice over the tomatoes
  4. add potatoes
  5. add the chops, alternating pork and lamb
  6. pare and dice the eggplant
  7. remove the seeds from the pepper and cut it into fine rings
  8. cover the chops with diced eggplant and sliced peppers
  9. add another layer of sliced tomatoes and top with the okra
  10. sprinkle it with salt and pepper and dot it with the butter
  11. cover roaster and bake it in the very hot oven for about 1 hour
  12. remove the cover from the pan ad continue roasting in a moderate oven at 350°F / 175° C
