| Sorrel drink |
| A drink made of the red Jamaican sorrel. |
What you need....
- 2 cups dried sorrel or 3 cups raw sorrel (without the seed)
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 6 cloves
- crushed ginger (based on your taste)
- 6 cups of hot water
- 1/5 cup of rum (optional)

How to prepare...
- dissolve the sugar in hot water
- pour over the sorrel in a large jar
- add the cloves and the ginger
- add the rum (optional)
- cover the jar and forget it for 2 or 3 days
- strain and serve with ice cubes
The rum can be replaced by wine or sherry for less alcohol.
For extra flavor some pimento, cinnamon or mace can be added (about 1 tsp. based on your taste).
